I need to change the name on about 200 recently installed access points. I have an Excel file with the MAC addresses and new naming convention. Is there a way to import this file into the WCS or WLC to make this task easier?

I have this problem too.

Yes, but it is quite painful

I posted a script in the forum that will allow you to do this

Here is the link:

You will need to build a flat file that has an entry per ap with the syntax per line

config ap name

The script was written for linux, but may work in other OSs with perl and expect

It will take some experimenting to tweak your variables, but it should work.

The posted script is for pulling info off the controller without snmp

I am still waiting for Cisco to put an IOS-like CLI on the controllers to make scripting easier.
