Hello Dustin,

a very good free tool is MRTG

http://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/

We use it and allow to produce nice graphs published as web pages.

It is widely used and it has 10 years of history.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

thank you. this looks a little difficult to install. is it?

no, its not. you can install it on unix and windows boxes as well. it all depends on you.

another tool is 'rrdtool' which is also being developed by the person who developed mrtg. a front-end of this one is 'cacti'.

thanks !

Is MRTG a licensed software.

Hi,

Its free as long as you do not break the licencing rules.

Here is the link to explain you further and to download/install software.

Could you also please tell the difference between PRTG and MRTG.

Hi,

Google friend took me to this link which explain the difference between both. In some cases PRTG commercial licence is required.

just make sure you use snmp v2 and higher as v1 cannot increment gigabit rates and will give you false data. It will work with FA but not Gig.
