3750 Stacking question

I have a stack of 9 3750 switches. All are 48 port 3750 10/100 switches except switch 9 which has POE.

We purchased a 3750E switch to replace switch one in the stack to allow a 10GIG uplink back to our 6513 core switch. All switches are at current software levels including the new 3750E.

Is there a proper way to remove switch one and replace with the 3750E. I have a copy of the running config and a print out of it. I don't want the 3750E to wipe the current stack config. Do I just pull the stacking cable off the current switch 1 wait till he stack reconfigures then add in the 3750E? Also when I add the 3750E. Do I power it on first then connect the stacking cable or connect stack cable then power on the 3750E.

The Catalyst 3750E can be stacked with the Catalyst 3750.

The 3750 must support the global features (Interdependent feature) already configured in running Configuration on the 3750E stack (eg MTU).

Newer 3750E port features can only be configured on 3750E ports and newer 3750E global features cannot be configured at all.

Power down the switch you will replace and as long as you do not segment the stack (deliberately or accidentally making them two separate stack) it should be fine.
