How to configure 3750-E ?

SiteA-C4506(10.80.240.1)---->C3750E<---fiber--->C3750E<---(10.80.240.2)C4506-SiteB

Presently telco provides 3750Es and link between them is LAN-X. C4506 in both sites have Gi0/1 configured as no switchport and connected to Gi0/1 on C3750E. I want to replace telco's 3750Es with my own 3750Es switches and connect them with fiber between site A and site B.

How to configure 3750Es in site A and site B?

Any help appreciated.

Hello Zbigniew,

if the two C4506 are in the same IP subnet (you wrote they have no switchport) the C3750 are simply acting as L2 switches.

In this case you just to put the ports facing the C4506 as L2 access ports in the same vlan Y.

the link between the C3750 can be a layer2 trunk but needs to carry that vlan Y

you can verify this with

sh int g1/0/x switchport

vlan Y must be in STP forwarding state.

In this way you build a L2 point-to-point service.

note: my Y can be your X

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Here is how ports are configured on C4506:

Site A:

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

description Uplink to 100Mb LAN-X Switch

no switchport

ip address 10.80.240.2 255.255.255.252

speed 100

duplex full

no cdp enable

Site B:

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

description Uplink to 100Mb LAN-X Switch

no switchport

ip address 10.80.240.2 255.255.255.252

speed 100

duplex full

no cdp enable

When you saying to put the ports facing the C4506 as L2 access port, does it mean to enter "switchport access VLAN Y" on this interface ?

Thank you for help

I m considering that your are not flowing any other VLAN excluding VLAN1.

you not need to configure anything on your C3750E, just open connected ports by cmd no shut.

and my suggestion is if your are providing your own switches you have to configure your switches with IP address to manage them in future..

Yes I will be managing my own switches so I will provide IP addresses to them. Thank you for help
