Solved: Tunnel High Utilization Threshold DFM 2.0

My tunnel interface has a default BW of 9Kbit and this is what DFM reports on for high utilization. Increasing the threshold will not solve this as 9Kbit is the value factored in calculating the highutilization. What is the recommended approach to this ? Hardcode the tunnel interface bandwidth?

DFM will read the ifSpeed of the interface via SNMP. If this is reporting 9 Kbps (which it sounds like it is), then DFM will measure the traffic based on that bandwidth. So if the interface is actually reporting ifInOctets and ifOutOctets which exceed that bandwidth, then DFM will report the > 100% utilization. The idea is that the bandwidth command on the interface should reflect the actual maximum bandwidth. If that is correct, then DFM can report correct utilization numbers.

Yes, DFM can discern between physical and virtual interfaces by way of the ifType SNMP object. However, it uses the ifSpeed to determine every interfaces maximum bandwidth.

If DFM is properly picking up the 9 Kbps bandwidth (because you configured "band 9" on the interface), then the only way to get DFM to alert on a proper utilization threshold is to increase the threshold to the desired size.

The tunnel interface defaults to a Max speed of 9000. Base on the tunnel input/output current utilizations are 200%- 500%. I have my threshold set at 60. The actual physical interface is 100Mb. Increasing the threshold does not seem practical. Can DFM discern between tunnel interface vs physical interface ?
