Hi every body!

I just want to know what is the relation between the 802.1x and EAP ?

Here is my hunch.

802.1x is a security protocol which use eap to carry authentication credentials to radius server.

In Eap , the term backend authentication server is used. Does radius server act as backend authentication server in eap environment ?

thanks a lot!

EAP is an authentication framework within which you can use different types of authentication eg. passwords/certificates etc..

802.1x is simply the ethernet standard for using EAP on an ethernet network.
