What is the advantage of Enabling CEF on Layer- 2 Switch ? I know the advantage on L3. Please help.

Hello Rupesh,
there is no real advantage on enabling CEF on a L2 only switch because only management traffic (telnet, ssh, snmp) is processed at L3, and this requires main cpu attention (it has to be process switched).
However, if the switch is multilayer capable you can see it as preparation step for a future l3 switching role, should you review you access layer design.

Hi, We have two SUP on Switch - 6500 which is Layer 2. Now the problem is, when I reboot the primary Sup, 6500 connectivity to default gateway Switch loose. I am unable to ping my management Vlan too. Please help.
