NNM Openview - can the alarm pick up the interface description

I`m using NNM 7.5 and was wondering if there was a way you can configure the alarms to pick up the interface description and then send this via email. i`m using blat to do the email bit. i even use the variable $* but this doesnt give me the interface description. i`d be gratfeul for any advise
