Hi,
Can some one answer please?
we have two ACS V 4.0 servers on windows platform and would like to upgrade to V 4.1.
Can a version 4.0 ACS replicate to a version 4.1 ACS?
any recommended reading or helpful resource determining the DB backup procedure. We dont have external DB.

Nope. Replication requires master and slave to be the same version.
The upgrade logic that goes into the ACS installer can be quite complex and its not possible to do that quickly as part of replication.
You'll need to do "in place" upgrades on both servers before you can re-start replication.
Or safer.. get a third server with your current database, upgrade it for testing. Then upgrade the others.

On the topic of getting an ACS backup.
From the GUI
-----------------------------------
ACS Backup
ACS System Restore
From the CLI (ACS for Windows only)
-------------------------------------
Backing Up ACS with CSUtil.exe
Restoring ACS with CSUtil.exe
