We have 160GB of HDD, installed LMS3.1 (1500 devices license). We ran out of disk space now. We decided to upgrade the Hard disk & Please suggest how do we scale the HDD requirement.

Guru

I typically install LMS onto a logical volume which doesn't map to a specific disk. I can then add more space to that LV as required (e.g. by adding more disks to the LV pool). If you have done this, then it should be trivial to add a new drive to increase your capacity.

If not, then you will need to replace the current drive with the larger one, then reinstall LMS onto that new drive. You can then restore the previous data into the new installation.

Thanks for your reply..

How this can be acheived in a Normal server. Are you referring to SAN server.

SAN is one way to go.  There are also host-attached RAID solutions which can provide this.  For example, on our lab Solaris 10 servers, I use ZFS to provide logical volume services.
