CSM to ACE redirect equivalent

PEDRO AGUIRRE

<p>Hello:<br />

Is there any way to achieve the next config but for ACE Module?<br />

<br />

CSM_1:<br />

<br />

probe HTTPS tcp <br />

interval 5<br />

 failed 10<br />

 open 5<br />

 port 443<br />

serverfarm REDIR1<br />

 nat server<br />

 no nat client<br />

 predictor leastconns<br />

 redirect-vserver REDIR_WS2<br />

 webhost relocation ws2.prueba.com.co/%p<br />

 ssl 443<br />

 virtual 10.10.10.59 tcp https<br />

 idle 60<br />

 replicate csrp connection<br />

 inservice<br />

redirect-vserver REDIR_WS1<br />

 webhost relocation ws1.prueba.com/%p<br />

 ssl 443<br />

 virtual 10.10.10.58 tcp https<br />

 idle 60<br />

 replicate csrp connection<br />

 inservice<br />

real 10.1.1.1<br />

 redirect-vserver REDIR_WS1<br />

 inservice<br />

 real 10.1.1.2<br />

 redirect-vserver REDIR_WS2<br />

 inservice<br />

 probe HTTPS<br />

vserver HTTP_ACCESS<br />

 virtual 10.10.10.50 tcp www<br />

 serverfarm REDIR1<br />

 idle 60<br />

 replicate csrp connection<br />

 persistent rebalance<br />

 inservice<br />

<br />

On CSM-to-ACE conversion tool I have see this:<br />

<br />

"The ACE has feature parity with the CSM redirect services function to configure a real server to receive traffic redirected by a redirect virtual server. However, the migration of the CSM redirect-vserver command and its submode commands are not supported in the conversion tool."<br />

<br />

So, what is the equivalent config on ACE?<br />

<br />

In the event of a real server fails or we put this in "no inservice" state, the redirect vserver go to OUTOFSERVICE too, we want the same for the ACE Module config.<br />

<br />

Thanks in advance for your help!!<br />

I would suggest to start looking here :

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/ace/v3.00_A2/command/reference/realserv.html#wp1019728

Let me know if you run into any issue.

Gilles.

Hi Gilles

The thing here is that we need the same feature we have in CSM.

We can't change the actual operative because it represents several changes, maybe on application too.

We need any equivalent config. The most important thing is the ability to sense the health of the real server before the ACE sends the redirection. At the end this redirection goes to the original Site and we use this also for persistence purposes.

Thanks in advance

Regards!

Pedro,

we have the exaxt same feature with ACE.

You use any probe you want to detect the state of the real server.

When the real server goes down, the backup serverfarm which contains a redirect rserver will kick in and redirect the traffic wherever you want.

The configuration is almost the same.

You just have to read the documentation I sent you.

Gilles.

Hello Gilles

At the moment, we don't have an ACE module installed for probe the commands, but in the documentation says that a redirect type rserver & server farm (both) do not accept the "probe" command. It is correct?

Could you send me a equivalent config (on ACE Module) for the CSM configuration I have post?

The most important thing for us is that ACE do not send the redirect if the configurated probe detects problems with the rserver or and administrative down of the rserver is in effect.

Thanks in advance!

Pedro

Yes, you can't probe the redirect destination.

So, currently the redirect is always being used when the local rservers are down.

Are you only using redirect ??? no local rserver ?

Gilles.

The config that we are using on CSM is exactly like I post at the start of this conversation.

As you can see, we are using a vserver for the initial client call in http, after, the call is send to the serverfarm called "REDIR1", on this serverfarm we are doing load-balance of two redirect-vservers pointing to only one real server (each) (for persistence).

The real servers are in the same Site (not in different Site), local to the same Site on all client connection. The re-direct returns to the same Site.

This is the exact configuration that we want for the ACE Module. It is possible?

Thanks for your time!!

Pedro

No, this is not possible.

You will need to adjust your configuration.

There are other ways to do stickyness that you could look at.

Gilles.

Thanks Gilles...

We need the same feature like CSM or CSS11500 do.

Do you know why this feature was suppressed on ACE?

I have found at Forum, a reply from you about the same thing:

"Replied by: gdufour - CISCO SYSTEMS, CCIE - Sep 18, 2008, 2:03am PST

I have introduced an enhancement request to get this feature in a future release.

CSCsu64641

No guarantee.

But if this is feasible we will do it.

Gilles."

Do you have any notice about this "enhancement"?

At the moment make any changes represents an important operative problem!! what's more, we can't install any ACE (module or Appliance), until this issue is not solved!!

Pedro.
