2950 IOS upgrade via FTP problems

<p>I seem to have issues upgrading the 2950 IOS via FTP - it usually just hangs and then I cannot access it for a while. I've tried copying the .bin or also tried the tar via the archive command - I've tried this via 2 FTP servers to rule out the server. I've also tried this on other switches like a 3560 which works great using the same FTP server on the same network as the 2950. Any ideas?</p>

I could not find any information that you can do an upgrade on this box using FTP instead of TFTP. Even on "archive" they server used is TFTP.

Have yoy tried TFTP instead?

I would check the space in flash usually the 2950 has room for 1 image and you have to delete that image to put a new one on .
