Hi to all!

We have some issues with a WLC 4402.

This Wlc controller is configured with 11 WLANS (just only one broadcasting its ssid?. Each WLAN is attached to its interface. Finally the port is connected to a trunk port.

We have some problems with the clients that try to associate to the hidden ssid. Thay cannot. But if they try to associate to the broadcasted ssid there's no problem. All the hidden WLANS are protected with WPA2/AES.

Watching the traps i got some messages that it could help:

DISCONECT_MOBILE_DUE_TO_WLAN_SWITCH: Disconnecting mobile 00:19:5b:7f:60:5c

due to switch of WLANs from 9 to 1

Feb 02 14:50:22.779 1x_ptsm.c:404 DOT1X-3-MAX_EAPOL_KEY_RETRANS:

Max EAPOL-key M1 retransmissions exceeded for client 00:19:5b:7f:60:5c.

The last message repeates continously.

any ideas?

thanks for your help

I believe you can configure up to 16 wlans, but the ap has a maximum of 8. So you can have 8 ssid's on the 802.11b/g radios and 8 ssid's on the 802.11a radio. If you are trying to push out more than 8 ssid's on both, wlan 1-8 will be active and the others will not.

Hi Fellas5!

I'll try it and post how is it going.

Thanks in advance

Be carefull with having too many ssid's. These will have to be sent in the beacons and will take up your RF space. Typically 4 SSID's or less is Best Practice.

thanks again fella5!

But what about to this message?:

eb 02 14:50:22.779 1x_ptsm.c:404 DOT1X-3-MAX_EAPOL_KEY_RETRANS:

Max EAPOL-key M1 retransmissions exceeded for client 00:19:5b:7f:60:5c

Something to worry about?

thanks

Might be an issues with all the ssid's.... try to remove some and see... what you can do is find that client and see if it is configured right. Maybe its trying to connect to an ssid that puts you over the 8 limit.

ok, fella5!

I've just done it and i will keep an eye on it!

Thanks for your help.

Client authentication has failed because the client did not respond to an EAPOL-key message.

Ensure that user credentials are correct on the client and on the AAA server.

thanks for all your help.

Finally I upgraded the Ios version, and everything is working ok.

It was a corrupted Ios problem.
