ASR1000 series etherchannel

Level 1

I tried several methods to do etherchannel on the ASR1006 to 3750 switch.

Method one:

port-channel 1

ip add 10.10.10.2 255.255.255.0

int g1/0/51

no switch

channel-group 1

ASR1006 configuration

int port-channel 1

ip add 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

int G2/1/0

channel-group 1

the port channel would show up but would not negotiate. Could not ping other end.

Other method

Switch config

vlan 2

ip add 10.10.10.1 255.255.255.0

g1/0/51

switch

switch trunk encap dot1q

switch trunk allow vlan 2

switch mode trunk

ASR 1006 configuration

int g2/1/0

vlan-id 2

this sets up subinterface and the example does no go from there. The router will not let you set up different encapsulations on the sub-interface.

I need a clear example to have two one gig connections from a 3750 switch to an ASR1006 to form a two gig etherchannel

Hello,

see the following document ASR1000 is different then other devices about etherchannel

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/lanswitch/configuration/guide/lsw_cfg_gecvlan_ps9587_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html

it uses subifs and has the concept of vlan mappings that is different from what we are used to see on switches

if you want to use it for a single vlan it will use a single GE (this was described in another thread)

Hope to help

Giuseppe
