Redundancy question

Hi. I was wondering if it's possible to set up a configuration in a router where for example a workstation within subnet 10.1.1.0/24 directly connected to a router which in turn is also directly connected to host 10.1.2.2 and host 10.1.3.2; if the workstation sends a packet with destination 10.1.2.2, the packet goes to 10.1.2.2 but if host 10.1.2.2 goes down, the router automatically forwards the packet to 10.1.3.2

Thanks

Hello Marcus,

a router can use PBR to send traffic to an alternate next hop.

Here what you need is some form of clustering of the servers to provide the desired redundancy at the application layer.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
