Dear all,
I wanted to know why do we enable sparse mode in SP cloud when we are using SSM also. (ip ssm default). Since SSM dosent need any RP then why we need the sparse mode together to be used with SSM in the SP cloud.

It could be that sparse-mode has already been deployed.

Hi,
PIM-SSM is just a restriction of PIM-SM.
In PIM-SM you have both (S,G) and (*,G) join/prune messages. The latest is not supported with PIM-SSM.
So you still need your PIM adjacencies thus the ip pim sparse-mode command.

Hi
You can go with dense as well as sparse mode but latter is preferred. For more you can vist the links and get all the details why it is reqired and its deployment in SP cloud.
