Hi,
How does the connection between a cisco call manager and the cisco pbx works and how does the cisco phone central work in general?
can already existing pstn and isdn lines be connected to a call manager?
the reason why i'm asking this question is because I am wondering how a local network with a few ip phones and a callmanager gets connnected to "the world" how phonecalls with regular phones can be received and made.
anyone who can give me some more info on this topic?
thanks in advance

exactly what do you mean when you say "cisco pbx"???
you use a gateway using H323, MGCP to control a T1/E1/FXO connection or a sip trunk to communicate to the PSTN

And what could this gateway be? and where is it located? between the callmanager and the wan?

a router, CMM module

i'd recommend you looking some telephony fundamentals on google to understand this
