Hi !
I have change some configuration parameter on catalyst 1900 switch after reboot or reload some switch has lost the configuration I have changed. If I'm remember correctly, it exist 2 types of mode on this switch series.
The first type and the default : when configuration it's automaticly save in the NVRAM, it's not necessaily to issue "write memory" or anything else like that.
The second is like the more recent switch like Catalyst 2960, where we have to save configuration before shutdown the switch if configuration must be retain.
1- I would like to know how can I confirm in which of this mode my switch is running.
2- How can I switch between those 2 types
3- How can I make sure my configuration is save before reload, when my switch is running in the none default type ( I already tried "write mem" and "copy run start" command, no wriet command exist, and for the copy command the only parameter is TFTP....

If Catalyst switch is running CATOS image, you don't need to save config change. System will do it automatically.
It looks like your switch is running IOS. In that case, you have to use "wr mem" or "copy run start" to save any config change.
After you save any config change, you can use "show start" to confirm if the change has been saved correctly. When reloading the switch, capture console output to see if there is any message to indicate why the new config is not taken by system.

Hardware board revision is 5
Upgrade Status: No upgrade currently in progress.
Config File Status: No configuration upload/download is in progress
27 Fixed Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)
NO WR
and here available command in this switch
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX#?
Exec commands:
clear Reset functions
configure Enter configuration mode
copy Copy configuration or firmware
delete Reset configuration
disable Turn off privileged commands
enable Turn on privileged commands
exit Exit from the EXEC
help Description of the interactive help system
menu Enter menu interface
ping Send echo messages
reload Halt and perform warm start
session Tunnel to module
show Show running system information
terminal Set terminal line parameters
vlan-membership VLAN membership configuration
D01-AMQU1-01#copy ?
nvram Copy configuration to TFTP server
tftp: Copy from a TFTP server
xmodem: Copy from a XMODEM host
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX#copy
no "copy run start" or "write mem" command are available in that switch !! And by the prompt # to indicate we are in the enable mode I think it is an IOS not a CatOS is running in that switch.

How long have you been using this switch? :)
I did not notice it's 1900. It should be end of life long time ago.
The configuration changes on a 1900 are saved automatically. "show run" will tell you the config.
