Copy Image, get "out of sequence" errors

Unanswered Question
Feb 12th, 2009

During the TFTP copy of an IOS image to a 6509 switch, the copy started going fine, then started getting out of sequence indicators.

The IOS finished copying, and I see the image on the disk, but I am wondering, should I be concerned about that image?

Or no?

I have this problem too.

The verify command is very useful when it comes to that.

If you run it against the image you downloaded, it will report the MD5 value.

You can compare the MD5 value reported to you to the one from the download page, if they match - the image was copied properly.

It should also report if the image is invalid.

I am getting something totally different on the "Verify"

Embedded Hash MD5 : BC422FEA4472CB24398B9C361602FAC8

Computed Hash MD5 : BC422FEA4472CB24398B9C361602FAC8

Signature Verified

LKLD-6509-RTR-1#dir disk1:

Directory of disk1:/

and what is shown in the Detail MD5 on the download page

MD5 e1da279d7a59e1278ecdd763d10afd6c

What's the image name?

That's odd - I have a 6509 with SXF8 and it matched CCO

Embedded Hash MD5 : DA2654E6FCDF4556B065637ABECF33D3

Computed Hash MD5 : DA2654E6FCDF4556B065637ABECF33D3

CCO Hash MD5 : 21FC4B0D8FE650D93C88791EF8F5DFD8

Signature Verified

From CCO:

Release 12.2.18-SXF8

Size 82558532

BSD Checksum -

Router Checksum 0xc964

MD5 21fc4b0d8fe650d93c88791ef8f5dfd8

Date Published: 13-DEC-2007

Once we verify the image you selected from CCO is the same as the one you have, then we can conclude the image is good or not.

Don't worry about this. The "O" is a sign of low latency. What matters are the "Ok!" and the Transfer Complete at the end of the process. I see this all the time when I transfer IOS via the low-speed WAN & satellite link.
