mask a mac address

can the the following have a mask applied so that you do not have to put all 8 entries in an access list

2100.0000.0000 thru 2100.0000.0007

ffff.ffff.fff8 should be the mask.

can you elaborate or ptovide some doc how you calculated the mask.

I believe the access list should have a wildcard mask:

0000.0000.0007

You are right. Thanks for pointing this out. It should use wildcard mask. "1" means don't care and "0" means match exactly.

Explanation to shivlu:

So if we want to match 2100.0000.0000 to 2100.0000.0007, transfer the last Hex number 0 to 7 into binary format, 0000,0001,0010,0011,0100,0101,0110,0111. Therefore, we don't need to care last 3 bits. The mask should be 0111 = 7.

2100.0000.0000 mask 0000.0000.0007 should match all 8 mac addresses.
