Please if, I use more than one interface for a unique mac adresse in the command ""mac-address-table static"", in this case, the switch will use the first interface declared or it will forward the frame to the all interfaces configured ??

thanks for help

I have a catalyst 3550 with IOS Version 12.1(13)EA1c

and Catalyst 4506 L3 Switch with IOS Version 12.2(25)EWA6

Hi

I think it will replace the earlier configured entry with the new one and it will be used becoz u cannot define a unique mac-address on two interfaces and that would be considered a loop.

Thanks

You cannot configure a switch to have a unicast mac-address on multiple ports static or dynamic. You cannot do this but I am not sure what kind of error you will see or whether it will overwrite the previous static mac entry.

Hello,

I have this configuration :

SWITCH# sh run

mac-address-table static xxxx.xxxx.xxxx vlan y interface GigabitEthernet0/11 Gi

gabitEthernet0/1

SWITCH#SH MAC-ADDress-table

Mac Address Table

-------------------------------------------

Vlan Mac Address Type Ports

---- ----------- -------- -----

Y xxxx.xxxx.xxxx STATIC Gi0/1 Gi0/11

--More--

in my topology, the host with the mac address xxxx.xxxx.xxxx is connected directly with the port G0/1, but it can be reached via the port G0/11 by anathor switch.

thanks.
