Hi,
When I try to connect to ciscopca I get the following error:
Unable to contact server. Try logging on again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, contact your Cisco Unity administrator.
I have done some reading I checked the TCP ports with tcpvcon.exe but I can not find anything. I resolve it with a reboot of unity server.
Normally the next day this error reoccurs.
Any thoughts?
This is a demo environment in our lab, but I can hardly propose this or show this to potential customers or the sales depth, nor do I want to unless I find out why I have this error.
Thanks,
JH

Jan,
Take a look at the PCA troubleshooting guide. You didn't mention which version you're running but here's 5.x troubleshooting guide:
Hope that helps,
Brad

Hello Brad,
Yes you are right I have an security error:
2009-02-19 10:37:08.994 [Thread-9] ERROR com.cisco.ecsbu.cpca.data.access.AvxmlConnector - AvxmlConnector.generateResponse() IOException Server returned HTTP response code: 401 for URL: http://UNITY/Avxml/AvxmlSvr.dll

2009-02-19 10:37:09.291 [Thread-9] ERROR com.cisco.ecsbu.cpca.data.DataAccessManager - sendEnvelope() - send failed returning fault
2009-02-19 10:37:09.291 [Thread-9] ERROR com.cisco.ecsbu.cpca.actions.LogonAction - populateLogonModel - error retrieving logon information - fault - server must be down
2009-02-19 10:37:09.291 [Thread-9] ERROR com.cisco.ecsbu.cpca.actions.LogonAction - perform - Attribute "PROVIDER" unknown/unset value: null
2009-02-19 10:37:09.291 [Thread-9] WARN com.cisco.ecsbu.cpca.actions.LogonAction - perform - Attribute "PROVIDER" will be defaulted to: Windows
But the AvXml directory in IIS allows anonymous access.
After a reboot of the unity server I have access for some time.
Is there some more security parameters to look at?
thanks,
Jan

Jan,
Did you follow the guide that explains how to verify each component of IIS is configured properly - as a sanity check?

What version of Unity, do you have any Engineering Specials installed?
There have been a few CPCA issues resolved in Engineering Specials. Some require installing an ES and a few post installation requirements.

Brad and Christopher,
Thanks for your replies.
At this moment I am not in the office, so I can not try it.
On Monday I shall do some checking,
Thanks,

Hi,
I checked all the things that are mentioned in the links and all is OK.
Problem is: It works, the next day it doesn't. After a reboot it works fine for another day.
I am, using Unity 5.0(1)
Maybe I should try some upgrade's?
Thanks,
Jan

Jan, are you also having problems with the web based status monitor when this happens? If so perhaps the workaround in the following defect may help out.
CPCA unable to login, cannot contact server, web Status Monitor fails.

Hi,
I am running win2K so I have IIS 5.0 and I don't think Application pools are supported on IIS 5.0
I can run Unity 5 on Win2K? I installed it without problems and I the installation manual says it supports 2K and 2003
Thanks,
Jan
