1131AP max power level in EMEA (ETSI) region

I live in the region covered by the ETSI regulatory authority and I have a question regarding the maximum Tx power setting of am 1131 AP.

The cisco documment "Channels and Maximum Power settings for Cisco Autonomous Access Points" shows a maximum Tx power level of 14dBm for the 802.11b/g radio with the 3dBi integrated antenna.

As the maximum EIRP for the European region is 20dBm shouldn't this setting really be 17dBm.

Don't the documented setting mean that the 1131 is nobbled to only transmit at half the maximum power that the european region allows? Or am I misunderstanding something along the way.

Hi Brian,

as far as i know the regulations here, the maximum tx-power of a whole wireless-cell is 100mW, which equals 20dBm.

This would mean that the AP and the client are each allowed to transmit at 50mW (17dBm).

So the maximum tx-level that can be chosen for the 1131 (14dBm + 3dBm) is the regulatory maximum, i think.

Greets,

Sebastian
