Hi all, is it possible to set up aguest vlan on my wlc, I have seen another solutiion from nortel, where users associate, then get directed to a web page for authentication, then once they put in a password its allowed, is this possible, or do i need to buy extra software ?

This is fully supported on the WLCs and has been since the Airespace days. Create the SSID to use web auth under layer 3 security. Attach that SSID to either a mobility anchor controller or to an interface that exists outside of your network. See the link below:

Do you really need an external server for this ? can i not do it all on the controller ?

No....You can use the internal or use a customized webauth page on the WLC.

I don't know if you plan on using a customized webauth page or not, but here is a link that has the code you can play around with. Once you load the code, make sure you set the wlan to use webauth. Take a look over this doc and let me know if you need help. You will need to zip the login.html along with the other jpegs, gif, etc you use in the html to a .tar file.
