Upgrading IOS on Cisco 3700 routers on-board memory

Hi,

I have got a number of 3700 routers without compact flash memory.

I wish to install IOS on the On-board DRAM. Can someone guide me on how to install IOS on the on-board memory and not the flash card?

Thank you.

I guess you don't have external compact flash.

Do you have internal(on-board) flash in it? If yes, you can follow this.

The 3700 series router, like the 2691, always comes with an empty compact flash bank (called slot0:). It also has an internal compact flash bank (called flash:).

Boot up the router, if it works, then the flash: is present and you're good to go.
