gigabit interface overrun

Hi,

We have a server that is connected to a gigabit port on auto 1000/full and we're getting interface overrun and input queue drops and the two values are always equal. Does that point to a port issue or a server issue? If it's a port issue what can we do to remedy the issue? Same goes for server? Thanks

Overrun indicates that the input rate exceeded the receiver's ability to handle the data. You can try the following:

1. Increase input queue size.

2. Move the server to a line card which has bigger RX buffer.

3. If QoS is enabled on port, check which queue has drop. If possible, allocate more resource to that queue.

4. Investigate the traffic to see if all of them is necessary.

5. Turn on flow control if it is supported on both sides.
