UT End hosts report - Notes

The UT End hosts report has a 'notes' column, which the help facility states are entered by the user. How, and where can information be entered against interfaces so that it shows up in the Notes column?

The notes column can only be updated from within User Tracking. This field is not automatically discoverable. Simply click on a MAC address in the UT report, then enter the desired notes. They will be persisted across acquisitions.

Thanks, looks good. I assume this is tied to the MAC Address though. Is there any way of tying information to a port number in CiscoWorks? I need to be able to record wall point numbers to specific ports.

That can be done simply be configuring a port description on the device. CiscoWorks will then display that port description in various interfaces.

To do this on IOS devices, just configure a description under an interface:

interface Gi0/1

description Jack 359.1

For CatOS, set the port name to the desired value:

set port name 1/1 Jack 359.1
