Try 12.4(3j).

Hi,

I haven't really checked if this IOS release is buggy.

But I would like to know a few things -

1) When you say the internet connectivity goes down, does the router hangs or it keeps on functioning normally.

2) Is the route accessible through console when the internet is down.

If you have configured any static/default route, kindly paste the configuration here.

Hi,

Let me answer your 2nd question first.

Yes,The router is accessible through console.

Once internet goes down router behaves pretty normally.

Yes I am using Static defualt route and routing like

0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Fastethernet0/0.

The router has only ip addresses configured on int 0/0 and 0/1.

0/0 connects to isp and 0/1 goes into my ASA.

Do let me know if I have bandwidth of some 2 mbps and my usage goes to 3 mbps or more, does even in that case my internet can go down?

Reg,

Sushil

You default static route is wrong.

Put the correct address of the default gateway instead of interface.

Hi Sushil,

this is what I suspecled. Do what is suggested by Paolo.

Here's the doc for your reference with detailed explaination on what happens when the route is configured in the way you have done and why router stops responding -

Make the changes and hopefully the issue should be resolved.

Try Paolo's second recommendation first (NB: what you're doing is "wrong" in the sense it can overload the router), and if you have maintenance, upgrading the IOS to Paolo's first suggestion is generally a good idea too.
