Hi,

My 3750 is showing the following errors (runts, giants, input errors):

FastEthernet 1/0/13

VPN Concentrator

0 runts, 5 giants, 0 throttles

22 input errors, 17 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

FastEthernet 1/0/2

Trunk to ASA Firewall

561 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

562 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

Should I clear the stats down first and check later? If so how?

Also in basic terms are these errors?

Hi,

To clear the statistics then type

clear interface fa1/0/13

clear interface fa1/0/2

runts are packets that are too small to be classed as a normal packet. Giants are packets larger than the MTU size of the port. CRC is checksum faiulure ie packet corrupted

The input errors are a total count of all errors.

Regards

Thanks,

Should the stats clear straight away? I ran those commands and the same stats remain.

[update]

Looks like clear counter interface fa1/0/13 etc did it.

Try the clear counters command

clear counters [interface-id]
