Do you mean how does the installer know what system is it going to install into? I guess what you need here is AnyConnect, the image itself, as far as I know, will find what is the system it is going to run into.
Both win and mac vpn clients "speak" similar language and are reporting what they are to asa. this function was built in when compiling asa client code (vb, c+/#, cocoa, etc.)
