What is the difference between the SPA-5X1GE and SPA-5X1GE-V2?

Is the V2 just the second generation SPA, or does the V2 fit in one environment, while the non-V2 works in another? Can I use the same SFPs in both versions?

I believe it's an omission within that portion of the document.

If you read the beginning of the V2 document, it says:

Cisco I-Flex enhances speed-to-service revenue and provides a rich set of quality of service (QoS) features for premium service delivery while effectively reducing the overall cost of ownership.

V2 provides the RJ45 interface as well as other goodies. Best to check the data sheet on V2 and compare with previous model:

V2:

Old Model:

One thing to keep in mind is that V2 needs SXI on the 6500, per Release Notes:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SX/release/notes/ol_14271.html

SFPs are compatible on both versions.

One thing I noticed when I read the data sheets, is that the non-V2 specifically states under Features and Functions that it supports QoS:

• Ethernet over Multiprotocol Label Switching (EoMPLS)

• QoS

• Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)

• Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP)

But the V2 data sheet omits support for QoS, and HSRP/VRRP for that matter.

Do you think that is the case - that V2 really doesn't support QoS, HSRP and VRRP?

I believe it's an omission within that portion of the document.

If you read the beginning of the V2 document, it says:

Cisco I-Flex enhances speed-to-service revenue and provides a rich set of quality of service (QoS) features for premium service delivery while effectively reducing the overall cost of ownership.
