Hi NetPro

I need to configure the buttons on a monitor module 7914 as a platform lines with CCM 4.2 (3) and only see an option to speed-dial. Similar to what is done with the platform by placing CCME button 1:1 2m7, 3m10

Hi Javier,

Sorry man, but,the feature you need DSS/BLF is available in CCM 5.x (and later) as well as CME.

Unfortunately, not in any earlier versions of CCM. So you have the choice that you have seen to configure the Button as a Shared Line (to see the status).

In CCM 5.x this is a traditional BLF (Busy Lamp Field) which is used to monitor On/Off Hook, Busy/Idle conditions on users phones, as well as having a Speeddial functionality for fast dialing and Transfers. These keys can't be used to answer actual calls.

Cisco Unified CallManager Speed Dial Presence

Cisco Unified CallManager supports the ability for a speed dial to have presence capabilities via a busy lamp field (BLF) speed dial. BLF speed dials work as both a speed dial and a presence indicator.Only the system administrator can configure a BLF speed dial; a system user is not allowed to configure a BLF speed dial.

States are:

Idle

Busy

Unknown

But you can use the "Old" Shared line appearance setups in the CCM 3.X and 4.X trains to achieve a similar function.

Have a look at the Phone Button Template for the 7914. If you find the default Button Template you can Copy it/rename it (something like 7965 with 7914)and reconfigure it with the appropriate Line Buttons. Once this has been done go back to the phone/device in question and apply this new Phone Button Template> Update> then go to add/update Speed Dials and you will see all the keys available :)

Here is an example :)

Phone Button and Expansion Module Template Information

Phone Button Template* 7960 - Six Line

Expansion Module 1 Standard 14-Button Expansion Module

Expansion Module 2 Standard 14-Button Expansion Module

Hope this helps!
