ASA - Syslog

I have a couple of ASA clusters. To make the firewall policy easier to read I use the "name" command to associate names to IP's and then use the names in the firewall rulebase.

Whenever the ASA sends logs to syslog it is sending that actual text name that I've associated with the IP and not the IP itself. My log aggregation device then has issues parsing the syslog message for source and destination IP.

Is there any way to change the ASA to log IP and not name?

Hi Kevin,

I don't see anything in the command reference that suggests this is possible. I think the only way to do this would be to use the 'no names' command and only enabled 'names' when you are actively looking at the configuration.

This sounds like it would be a good case for a feature request though.

Yes, Michael is correct.

If I remember it correctly, Cisco MARS can parse them if it is configured so. I am not sure if your syslog server can do something like that.
