Hi all,

Kindly let me know what all SNMP commands are useful for typical 6500 series swicth used in datacenter. I wish to configure this switch for sendinig SNMP alerts in case of 'module down' or 'module power down', but I do not want to monitor the link down/up of each and every switchport (just want to monitor modules). Kindly let me know how can it be done?

thanks and regards,

Try these

snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication coldstart warmstart

snmp-server enable traps chassis

snmp-server enable traps module

snmp-server enable traps event-manager

snmp-server enable traps hsrp

snmp-server enable traps rtr

snmp-server enable traps entity

snmp-server enable traps envmon fan shutdown supply temperature status

snmp-server host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

snmp-server host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

These cover you module up and down

Thanks there...!

Kindly let me know what all MIB's are required to be downloaded for these SNMP-options....? We will be using netcool and HP-NNM for SNMP monitoring.

Thanks and regards,

May I be allowed to add the following:

snmp-server enable traps cpu

snmp-server enable traps transceiver

snmp-server enable traps power-ethernet

To disable logging of links going down/up, go to each interface and configure the following:

no logging event link-status

no snmp trap link-status

Thanks...

Kindly let me know if I need to download MIB's from cisco.com in order to monitor these parameters using HP-NNM and netcool. If yes, what all MIB's should be used....

Thanks and regards,
