Solved: High Memory & CPU Utilization

Hi,

We see very high voulume of the memory and CPU utilization alarms. Could any one please help out to troubleshoot and get them resolved. Like...

1. To kill the unwanted process using memory.

2. How to identify the Unneccessary processes are runing and causing high CPU utilization.

3. How will come to know the thresholds that are configured on monitoring console.

I would appreciate all in forum, if they can share their experiences that has come accross these issues and share the tech_Documents relatred to trouble shooting the memory and CPU utilization alarm.

is a good starting point to identify the processes that use most resources.

then a link to troubleshooting cpu in routers

note:

it will be difficult to find unwanted processes running on the router (it is not a PC ) but there can be some configuration tuning that can reduce the cpu load:

example:

a device connecting to the internet and relying on proxy-arp (no default gateway configured) is going to have the ARP process to work too much.

sh proc mem I see that some devices support also sh proc mem sorted

About the thresolds in management console, if using HP OpenView, HP OVO it should be enough to click on the alarm message and then to see the details.
