ATM pings

I have 1 router that has 2 atm cards and both connected to a tester(traffic generator) back to back.

I cannot ping the tester, my one side/interface configs are as below:

interface ATM1/0

ip address 192.1.1.1 255.255.255.0

load-interval 30

atm clock INTERNAL

no atm ilmi-keepalive

pvc 1/200

no oam-pvc manage

encapsulation aal5snap

!

end

the tester has a pvc 1/200

ip address 192.1.1.2 255.255.255.0

what could be a problem since I can't ping the tester?

Hello Lawrence,

be aware that not always a traffic generator answers to ping on the interface.

Also it is not sure it supports inverse ARP.

You can try to add a mapping with

pvc 1/200

protocol ip 192.1.1.2

because you are using the physical interface

I would suggest you to perform tests by configuring the traffic generator to send traffic with destination on the other tester port.

if you see the rx counters on port2 incrementing while sending traffic with port1 you should be fine

Hope to help

Giuseppe
