sip trunk registered and working on IOS

is there a command that will quickly unregister a registered sip trunk?

and a command to re-register it?

I know rebooting the router will break the sip connection but that's a long clumsy way to do it. thanks for any pointers.

Hi Tony,

If you remove the 'registrar' command under sip-ua and add it back it will re-register the devices.

I don't think there is a way to do it by device however.

thanks for your response Nick but I've tried that and it doesn't work.

I made a pstn phone call to establish the sip trunk was up and it worked.

I then did:

vpn(config-sip-ua)#no registrar

and then I did:

vpn#show sip register status

Line peer expires(sec) registered

================================ ========== ============ ==========

vpn#

but when I dialed an outside number again it still worked, so the sip trunk was still up.

I was looking for a command that would actually take the sip trunk down.

I don't think there's a way to do this then. You can force the gateway to stop registering, and you can force the gateway to re-register.

In this case, it looks like the provider is keeping the REGISTER until the refresh timer stops. Depending on your SIP conversation this will be different timers, but it is likely quite long.
