OSPF and HSRP

Level 4

/r1ca(500mbArea11)--ospf-wan--(100mb)r1sf\

NoHSRP\r2ca(12mbArea0)--ospf-wan--( 6mb )r2sf/hsrp

On SF side, I have multiple vlans(ie desktop, voip, Wifi-In, Wifi-Guest, Video, Internet)

I am using HSRP higher priority for video, voip, internet to go through 6mb-WAN link

while HSRP higher priority desktop to go through 100mb-WAN link

OSPF A0 is running on the CA side and btwn WAN side of R2CA and R2SF. A11 is on LAN side as a totally stub and btwn R1CA and R1SF

However on a traceroute from SF, all traffic appears to go through R2. What is the best way to design this?

Thx

Hello Tony,

all destinations outside the stub area have more specific routes reachable via the area 0 link.

Or these inter-area routes can have better metric when seen from the link in area 0.

Only destinations inside the stub area should use the Area 11 link.

You should consider to place both links in the same area.

To be able to use one link only for specific traffic you should implement PBR: Policy Based Routing because OSPF cannot make different choices based on source address.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
