interface continues to go up / down

I have a question concerning a Cat 3750.

Presently, I have a couple VLAN's configured on this LAN switch. We only have 1 user on the switch (planned for many more). I have the following VLAN's configured:

VLAN 200 managment

VLAN 201 User VLAN

I have an up link to an aggregation switch via a layer 3 PO (PO3)

My problem is this.

If the single user removes his desktop from the switch, the VLAN Interface goes into an Up / Down state until such time as a host is plugged back into the switch.

any thought on why this would be?

thanks

Bruce

It is the expected behavior of the switch that if a VLAN has no active device connected (or is not connected to an active trunk) that the VLAN will go to a down state. Over time, as you get more users connected to the VLAN this issue should take care of itself.

Do you have this user port set as:

switchport mode access

spanning-tree portfast

or is it set to the defaults out of the box?

I also agree with Rick.
