Cat 6509 Power Supply Problem

I have a Catalyst 6509 running CATOS with redundant 1300 watt power supplies. If I turn off power supply # 2 (right slot) the switch continues to operate normally. If I turn off power supply 1 (left slot) the switch powers down all the modules except the 2 sup cards. I have tried 2 different known good power supplies in slot 2 with the same results. Seems to be a slot issue. Here is the results from show env power.

If you have tried a known good PS in slot 2 and "show env" still shows PS2 is Fail, it should be a slot issue. You might need to replace the chassis.

By the way, did you try to move PS in slot 1 to slot 2 to see if you have the same issue?

I assume you swapped around the power cords from the good one to the bad one and or checked the voltage with a voltmeter at the end of the power cord.

Yes - I swapped the power cord from 1 to 2. Same issue.

Yes - the power supply in slot 1 was one of the known good supplies. Same issue.

How many power input are connected to the PS2 unit? 1 or 2?

I assume you mean how many power cords are connected to PS2. Only 1 - both ps1 and ps2 have a single 110v power cord input.

If that is the case, then I'll be leaning towards Cisco's recommendation: Chassis issue.
