HSRP lab

Unanswered Question

Hi,

I want to configure HSRP in my lab, I only have 2 x C2620 routers and only have 1 x Ethernet and 2 x WIC on each, is it possible to create an HSPR environment?

If not how would a simple config look?

I have this problem too.

I believe so. Just configure HSRP on each router's Ethernet interface. Insure two routers' Ethernet interfaces are connected (directly, hub or switch).

Hi

As suggested, link the two routers up directly via a crossover cable or via a hub/switch with a straight cable.

An example config for HSRP follows :

Router 1

Ethernet 0/0

ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0

standby 100 ip 192.168.1.1

standby 100 preempt

Router 2

ip address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0

standby 100 ip 192.168.1.1

standby 100 priority 150

standby 100 preempt

Hello Andy,

to make a meaningful test an hub or switch is needed so that you can add at least a PC client to the vlan to be able to test what happens when the active router changes.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
