DST on 4400 controllers

Since last weekend's DST event I have been unable to keep the time on my controllers updated. They did not update automatically so I went in and manually changed the time fwd one hour. Only to find some time later they all reverted back to being 1 hour behind.

I have 4400 controllers running 4.2.130. The date and timezone are correct. The offset I have configured is (-5) for EST.

I thought DST support was added to 4.2.130. So I don't understand why I have to manually change them back and why they keep reverting back after I do.

Thoughts?

Hi Charles,

DST issues still :( Even my $25 Weather Station updated the time properly ...ugh!

I can't tell you why time time changes aren't sticking but I thought you might still be curious in this info;

Daylight Savings Time (DST) is not supported in controller software release 4.2.

CSCsf99924 Bug Details

Daylight savings cannot be set

Symptom:

In WLC code 3.2.183.0 and 4.0.199.0 (and above), there is no option to

configure an option for the controller automatically to adjust its local

time for daylight time. In earlier WLC versions, a daylight time checkbox

was present, but did not correctly adjust time in the Southern Hemisphere,

and is not aware of the newly legislated daylight time changes for the

United States in 2007.

Workaround:

1. Simply configure UTC aka GMT (no timezone offset)

2. During standard time, run with the standard offset. Then, at the time

when daylight rules take effect, manually tell the WLC to set the offset

forward. When standard time resumes, manually tell the WLC to set the

offset back. For example, if your WLC is in the US Eastern timezone, then

prior to March 11, 2007, you could have the offset set to -5. Then, at

02:00 on March 11, 2007, issue the following CLI command:

config time timezone -4

Similarly, at 02:00 on November 4, 2007, you could issue the command

config time timezone -5

Currently there is no workaround. Customers are advised to use NTP for time tracking.

That's nothing Charles. Wait until you type the command "sh ap eventlog " and observe the time stamp.

I'm running 5.2.178.0 firmware. The WLC's DST setting is now working in accordance to my country's DST settings but the LWAP themselves are totally different.
