t1 test to csu /dsu

cisco steps
Level 1
Level 1

Hi again

I need to test a T1 going from RT1 to csu/dsu.. now It shows down/down... when I had a telco tech put a hardloop on it I see up/down.. what could be the problem

the second issue that I have is that on the other end of the router I am doing the same testing RT2 with hard loopset by the telco on the other side.. RT2 is down/down.. when we put hardloop we still get down /down..

can you help isolate the issue.. on RT1 and RT2...

HERE IS THE HOW IT LAYS OUT

RT1---CSU/DSU--SMARTJACK--TELCO---SMARTJACK--CSU/DSU--RT2

Thanks

Telco should be isolating the issues for you.

When telco loops your equipment you should see (looped) besides the interface.

You can test your interface with a loopback plug.

Run over to your CSU/DSU and push the little loop button? Do you see a loop? Look on both sides.

You can also loop the CSU yourself.

Change your encap to HDLC so you can send pings. Can you loop your interface?

Thanks for the reply

I am doing this remotely

RT1 already have 0/0 up/up

now I am working w/ 0/1:0

here is what I did

config t

router ospf 1

passive-interface 0/1:0

end

wr

config t

int s0/1:0

no encap

end

wr

so when he I do show int s0/1:0

it shows down/down

when the tech tech the loopout it show up/down

It looks like you have an internal controller.

When telco has a loop up check to see if they put it in the wrong place. Do a show controller t1 0/1.
