Exporting/importing configs from cli in LMS

Hi,

we have a LMS 3.1 with some devices added. We also have a LMS 2.6 with those devices added some years before and with more configs saved.

We want to export these old but important configs from the LMS 2.6 and import them in the new LMS 3.1.

Could we do this using "cli config export/import"?

Regards.

No. The import command isn't what you think it is. cwcli import takes a config from a file, and pushes it to the device. So while the new config is archived, the contents are also added to the device's running config.

If you want to migrate your LMS 2.6 data to 3.1, you will have to do a complete LMS backup and restore.

Hi,

OK, I understand.

We have to migrate two old LMS's 2.6 to a new one LMS 3.1, and the client doesn't want to lose any device configuration.

I know that backups from different servers cannot be merged into a new one but I'm thinking in other alternatives...

Thank you very much.

Backups from different servers CAN be migrated. The servers just need to be running the same OS. This procedure is called a remote upgrade.
