IP Communicator connected

Hi experts, I have this problem when making a call from my home to local location. I am using CIPC and connect to our (company) CM via VPN and it was ok. Upon dialling my CIPC says "Ring out" and afterwards "Connected" and counter starts to count, however, i dont hear anything ringing or answering the phone, what is the possible cause of this? thanks...
