Consider the scanario :-
I have a very simple network with only two subnet :- 10.1.1.0/24 (data) and 10.1.2.0/24 (voice) with a 2811 router-on-a-stick to route between them.
Now I have a WLC that I insert in an NM module on another 2811 which has Fa 0/1 on the 10.1.1.0/24 (data) network.
The config on my 2811 with NM looks like :-
ip address 10.1.1.5 255.255.255.0
ip address 10.1.11.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation dot1Q 8
ip address 10.1.8.10 255.255.255.0
I cant assign the wlan-controller interface on the NM in the 10.1.1.0/24 network because it clashes with Fa0/1.
So I have ended up creating another network 10.1.11.0/24 just for the management and ap-manager static interfaces.
For the wireless clients too it looks like I have to create a wlan-controler sub-interface and create a separate vlan.
Now I will have my wireless clients in 10.1.8.0/24
The sub-interface on my second 2811 should allow routing between my wireless 10.1.8.0/24 network and the wired network.
My Question is :-
Is creating a separate VLAN just for wireless clients the only way with the WLC ?
Is there no way, I can have my wireless clients on my data vlan ?
There seems to be no option of using the address of Fa 0/1 for the wlan-controler with ip unnummbered.
