Cisco Catalyst 4507R-E Switch connection problem

Hi all!

I have a problem with dot1q connection between Cisco Catalyst 4507R-E Switch (WS-X4516 - Supervisor Engine V )and Fortigate 60M firewall.

On Fortigate 60M side I configured dot1q VLANs. On Cisco side I configured trunk port on classic way:

interface GigabitEthernet3/1

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

result is:

GigabitEthernet3/1 is down, line protocol is down

There was't a problems with similar connections (dot1q) between Fortigate 60M and other switches, and between Cisco Catalyst 4507R-E Switch and other switches.

Best regards,

Miroslav Petkovic

If its down/down that is a physical layer problem . Make sure you are using the correct connect cables.

I made dot1q connection between Cisco Catalyst 4507R-E Switch and 3com switch (Baseline Switch 2924-SFP Plus), and everything was correct.

But I still have a problem with dot1q connection between Cisco Catalyst 4507R-E Switch (WS-X4516 - Supervisor Engine V ), (by using same cable and port) and Fortigate 60M firewall.

It seems, there isn't layer 1 problem.
