Solved: LMS 3.1 Installation on Solaris

I finished installing LMS 3.1 on a Solaris box. Installation went smooth. I cannot access the web interface of LMS 3.1 using the 1741(http) or 443 (https) ports. Following is the end message:

How can I verify installation after LMS 3.1 finishes installing on Solaris? and How can I start stop services after I am not able to get to the web interface of LMS 3.1 after installation?

Follwing is my server specs:

Solaris 10 10/08 s10s_u6wos_07b SPARC

Patch cluster as of 2009-03-09 has been

Memory size: 16256 Megabytes

CPU - SUNW,UltraSPARC-T2

Yes, you must install as root. But regardless, you need to make sure the permissions of the underlying NMSROOT file system mount point are 0755. If this is not the case, LMS will fail to run.

You need to reboot before using LMS as /etc/system gets changed.

When the server reboots, /etc/rc3.d/S10dmgtd should be executed automatically (yeah, we're not using svcadm yet). That should start Apache and Tomcat. After about 30 minutes, everything within LMS should be reachable.

If not, post the output of /opt/CSCOpx/bin/pdshow.

There is a clear permissions problem here. And I think I know where. Unmount the file system which holds /opt/CSCOpx (or where ever the actual NMSROOT is). Make sure the permissions on the mount point are 0755.

For example, if /opt/CSCOpx is mounted on /opt (i.e. /opt is a file system), unmount /opt:

umount /opt

And look at the permissions on /opt:

ls -ld /opt

They need to be:

drwxr-xr-x root other ...

I am thinking of rebuilding the server and reinstalling LMS 3.1. When I install LMS 3.1, should I install it as Root?

Yes, you must install as root. But regardless, you need to make sure the permissions of the underlying NMSROOT file system mount point are 0755. If this is not the case, LMS will fail to run.
