customer is trying to use a plantronics wireless headset on a 7961 GE phone.
when he hits the button on the handest, the receiver lifts, but he must hit the headset button in order to talk.
This seems unproductive if he has to walk back to the phone in order to hit the button to talk.
Please advise.

Did you verify the phone load? "show ephone phone-load"
Did you do a "create cnf" and restart the phone?

Everytime, I pick up the wireless headset, I still have to hit the button in order to hear.

I am afraid that there's some compatibility issues then with that headset. We have officially only tested Jabra and GN headsets (as the document indicates).
Sorry I can't be of more help.

One more thing. Can you try this command under your ephone:
headset auto-answer line 1

If you try to add a APC-4 from plantronics it should work fine. Plantronics partnumber 37978-01
