CUCM7 and local route groups

Has anyone utilized this new concept, and would appreciate any feedback, good or bad. Thanks

Yes, it simplifies the dial plan because you can create Route Groups, then define them in the device pool as the local route group and then create a route list to use standard local route group and then create patterns to point to this RL.

so if you have 5 route groups, you create 1 RL and 1 RP to point to all of them depending on the phone DP.

I've used it on few deployments. Make sure you fully understand it when you design it as it's got few caveats.

For example you can only have single route group, so in scenario where you have for example MGCP local and ld separate trunks this will never work, or if you need to create redundancy (different for each site) this will not work either.

The good thing is you can mix and match, so for example you can use local route groups for 911 dialing and local dialing, and then use standard route lists for LD and International, etc. Again, make sure you plan accordingly.

Just to elaborate on Chris's point. You can mix and match if the gateway is H.323 and you have specific local and LD destination-patterns.
